Paul Wadey M.Sc M.Res MBACP (Accred.)
My clinical practice is founded upon a theoretical synthesis developed over more than two decades of work. This approach represents a considered integration of several distinct yet complementary traditions: relational psychodynamic theory, systemic and family therapy, existential-humanistic inquiry, and contemporary trauma-informed perspectives. Central to this praxis is a profound commitment to establishing a robust therapeutic alliance—a collaborative, analytic dialogue wherein the subject feels genuinely heard and understood.
The rhythm and tempo of the therapeutic work are not imposed but are rather co-determined by the interplay of the client’s affective state, their emergent capacities, and their subjective desire for transformation. This necessitates a continuous and sensitive recalibration of the clinical stance. A frequent and understandable question pertains to the temporal frame of the work. It is my clinical understanding that a meaningful therapeutic process unfolds over a significant duration, typically measured in months or years rather than weeks, while eschewing an indefinite trajectory. The conventional framework involves sessions held once or twice weekly. While the privileged modality for this work is the co-presence of the consulting room, consultations can also be conducted via secure digital platforms (e.g., Google Meet, Zoom, Skype) where appropriate.
Clinical Experience
I have accrued over 25,000 hours in twenty-three years of post-qualification experience across a diverse range of clinical contexts, from community and primary care services to acute psychiatric inpatient units. This has involved substantive therapeutic work with individuals across the entire life-course—from adolescents and young adults to mature professionals, creatives, and the elderly—and from a wide spectrum of socio-cultural locations within contemporary Britain. This extensive clinical history has afforded me the invaluable opportunity to learn from the singular experiences of a great many individuals.
Fees & Practical Arrangements
Fees for therapeutic consultation or clinical supervision are structured within a range of £58–£104 per session. In certain circumstances, concessionary arrangements may be considered.
My consulting room, located in Nayland, is fully accessible for wheelchair users and has ample parking available.
